ParkArt Process Steps
Nina and John will facilitate and lead all the steps. They will elicit ideas from everyone to develop themes and design element ideas. The public will be involved in nearly every step.

color renditions

transfer design
to large pieces of paper as templates (J & N with assistants)

label template
color areas
-set up work tables for large paper templates

break tiles
-sort broken tiles by color into labeled 5-quart ice cream buckets
-
gather pieces
of broken tile for a certain color area of a template (start June 1)
-carry tile on paper plate to work table for that template
-
piece together
small areas of the color area with broken tile,
-
nipping
as necessary to fit
-cover small assembled areas with clear
contact paper
to anchor tiles
-complete large sections of mosaic
-
cut completed
, contact-papered, large sections into approx. 1' areas
-
number these areas
by row and column (A1, A2¼, B1, B2)
-
transfer
numbered areas to pieces of cardboard
-stack for storage
-
build the structure
-move to construction site in East Leach Park (start about August 5)
-
install, by numbered rows and columns
, onto walls and pillars (tile setter)
-remove contact paper after several days
-grout mosaic (tile setter)
