Earth work begins by super city crew

Volunteer engineer Jim Thiesse provided vast construction assistance in all phases.

Scott Rettey designed the all-important form for the tri-curved wall. He, Mike Scmilllen, and Doug Siepkes constructed it.

MarvinKruse, another volunteer engineer, provided additional support.

Mike and JR Schomaker formed and welded the intricate interior rebar structure of the cages for the two "wall pours".

Schomaker Construction also ably handled the onsite work for pouring the pad, walls, columns, and plaza.

The wall and its form were used to help steady the forms for the columns.

Mike made a special bucket to use when the column forms were poured so they could be filled gently and evenly.

This was all necessary to keep the structures plumb for structural soundness and to insure accurate installation of the design mosaics.
